Past Life Regression

Not all problems began in this lifetime. When that is the case, it may be most beneficial to return to the original time and place. We can do that through past life regression.

In a past life regression the client is facilitated to recall long forgotten events. Open ended suggestions are used to uncover information. This can take a little longer for things to unfold, but it avoids the creation of false memories or implanted suggestions. Clients can be assured that what they recall is uniquely their own and not some fabrication.

The benefit of this reliving is that often things are revealed that result in an immediate releasing of old, trapped emotional energy. Once this energy goes, it can take emotional or even physical conditions with it. This is generally how regression is portrayed in books, but in reality healing may not be instantaneous. Sometimes it is stubborn and takes many sessions.

Do I have to believe in past lives or reincarnation for it to work?

No. You just have to be able to set aside any fear and be willing to go along. If you are afraid, your fear will block progress. Connection with your facilitator will enhance results tremendously. There is no need to fear. You are always in complete control of the session and can stop it at any time. You will always be aware of what is happening in the room.

Will I see my death?

Yes. That tends to be one of the most cathartic parts of the session so we want to experience that. However, there is no need to fear. You will be safe. A side-effect of experiencing your “death” over and over is that most people lose their fear of death.

What if it doesn’t work?

There are many methods to inducing past life recall. All are safe and effective. If you don’t respond to one, I will try another. The process is as natural as breathing. You really don’t have to do anything special. You just have to allow what’s happening to happen. If you feel that it’s “not working,” that is enough to stall the process. If you feel like you are floating, feel heavy, feel tingly, feel your eyes fluttering, notice that you have to swallow a lot, or notice that your eyes are tearing, those are signs that all is well. Not everybody experiences everything.

If you are not seeing anything, know that not everybody sees things. Some sense them. Some hear things. However it is happening for you is perfectly okay. I personally think that sensing is more powerful than seeing, but your ability to get information in multiple modalities will increase with practice.

If you insist on having to “see” things in order to believe it, there are ways to increase your ability to visualize. It’s a lot easier to go with the flow and accept the information as it is presented. However, I can work with whatever is easiest for you. Just know that it may take some time.

Everyone can do this. Some need a bit of practice to be able to do it comfortably.

Are past lives real?

There is no way to prove or disprove it, but I can tell you that the therapeutic benefit is real. That is what matters.

How long does it take to see change?

This depends. There is no way to know. Some report instantaneous change. Sometimes the client does one session and the change comes weeks later. For some, it takes many sessions over time. Sometimes a single session from long ago heals different layers of the problem over time.

Can you guarantee results?

Books, tv shows and lectures highlight the most impressive results so that they can sell books, tv programs, and seminars. I am not saying that these types of things don’t happen. I am saying that miraculous results don’t always happen in one session. I’ve not seen any technique that works 100% of the time for 100% of people. Regression is no different. Often the people who want it and need it most are so traumatized by their past, or so fearful of what they might find, that they are too inhibited to allow the process to work. If you don’t get instantaneous results, it doesn’t mean it can’t happen for you. It might just mean that you have to go more slowly. If you don’t get what you expected, it doesn’t mean “nothing happened.” It could mean that you aren’t fully appreciating what is there.

Can I get stuck?

I get this question a lot and I am not sure what it means. The client is always in complete control. If a cat sat on his lap, he would be aware of it. If the building were going up in flames, he’d get up and out. The memories can be hauntingly real. They can sometimes be disturbing. Most people will have a sense of them before they see them if they are painful. But nobody has ever gotten stuck in the past.

Is it dangerous?

Past life regression is not dangerous. It is a process of using altered states to help you recall information. We go into altered states naturally every day. It’s part of the brain’s natural rhythm. The only thing I’d caution against is working with an unskilled practitioner. If you uncover scary information and do not process it fully, it could be like experiencing a trauma in this life. Your brain will keep replaying it because it wants resolution. Working with a knowledgeable facilitator will ensure that this does not happen.

Can I recall specific details to help me find the person I was in the past?

That’s called forensic hypnosis. Yes, forensic hypnosis can be used in that way, but there is no guarantee that you will be able to recall verifiable details. Most people lived and died without leaving a trace. It wasn’t until relatively recently that records were routinely kept. If you were poor, illiterate, female, or uneducated there is a good chance that little could be found to substantiate your existence.

You should be able to get place names and find details about a particular place and time that are currently unknown to you. If you want something that qualifies as “proof,” you may be disappointed.

Are you saying I will be someone insignificant?

Henry David Thoreau said, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.” If you do enough regression sessions, you will see that that is true. I am not trying to put a negative spin on things. I am just saying that most of us do not recall grand lives of glory, beauty, fame, or riches. If you look around you, only a few in any given population have that so this is fitting with current statistics. If you are looking for a way to escape or find significance, past life regression probably isn’t it. You will probably encounter pain. It is through pain that we learn. Very few regression sessions that I’ve facilitated focus on the highlights of life. That isn’t to say it doesn’t happen. Sometimes that is exactly what the person needs to see to learn. It just isn’t very common.

Let me explain. Let’s say that you were previously someone famous like Henry Ford, Marie Curie, or Manfred von Richthofen. Now, there are the well publicized achievements of those people’s lives and the private lives, thoughts, loves, fears, and disappointments that no one knows about. You are much more likely to get those private details than to relive their public glory. When you do a lot of regression work, you begin to realize that life isn’t about achievement usually. It’s about connection (or lack thereof), emotion, and growth. Those are the things we carry forward with us that either strengthen us or hinder us.

What if I can’t be hypnotized?

Past life recall can happen with or without hypnosis. Hypnosis is just one way of retrieving information. You don’t have to be hypnotized or go very deep to get good information. You don’t even have to be relaxed. All it takes is an open-mind and willingness. For many people, it’s as easy as breathing. If you’ve ever experienced de ja vu, you will know how natural it is for information to seep into your consciousness.

Can I ask to see someone or some time period in particular?

We can set that intention, but the mind goes where it wants to go. It knows what is for your highest good. If we don’t end up where you wanted to go, just trust that the information that you do get is what you were meant to have. See it for what it is.

How often can I do it?

If you are doing past life therapy with a specific goal in mind, once a week is fine. If you are doing it for curiosity or spiritual growth, I don’t recommend more than once a month. It takes a while to digest the material. More often is revealed in dreams afterward. You also don’t want to use this as an escape from your real life.

Will insurance pay for this?

No. The fee is $150 per session. Why not schedule your past life regression with Laura Giles in Richmond, VA today?
